At the base of this page there are some drawings of some 'Celtic' wooden figures

Fantastic.

On a tangent I liked the image at the bottom of the page with "Satan in the groin" written on it.

There's a nice picture in Stuart Piggotts, excellent and objective, book 'The Druids' of part of a deposit of over 5000 similar wooden carvings found around the spring of Les Roches, Chamalieres. The have been dated as early Gallo-Roman. Another deposit close to the source of the Seine yielded 200 carvings including animal cravings and figures with their internal organs exposed. This was thought to be linked with divination practices at a celtic sanctuary.
