It's not as bad as I might have made it sound. It's only a very short way from the road really. If you pick your route to avoid the wire you'll be fine, especially if you approach from below rather than above.
By the way, I thought of you at the end of the walk on Saturday. I went over Minchinhampton Common on my way to Stroud and remembered about the Horestone at Rodborough that you found, then kicked myself because I couldn't remember anything about where it was, apart from it being in that private housing estate somewhere. With no way to find out, I didn't stop off, but I'm cross that I forgot about it!
