There is a superficial resemblance to the carved heads in niches at Entremont (Bouches-du-Rhone). Stylistically, the heads are quite different from so-called "Celtic" heads. The more grotesque style of the Tarreneusant skulls seems akin to medieval death heads.

At a pinch, they could be Iron Age Romano British (not fictitious "British Celts" please!)
