That's some rock art, fitzcoraldo. They certainly meant to get as much on as possible. Is that the most cup=marked rock you've seen?
What's its setting? The photo makes it look as though it's hidden away somewhere rather than out on a windy hilltop.
Is there any story of explanation to go with it? Or I suppose such things are so common in the North that it goes without comment. I'm very jealous. We aint got nuffin like that down here.

oops I see it's very North indeed, no offence meant.

Cheers Rhiannon,
High Banks is a real trip and was definitely one of the highlights of Stu & I's recent trip to that part of the world.
I'll jot down a few fieldnotes when I finally come down from the place.
The site itself is on a 30m rock outcrop above High Banks farm and has views over the landscape.
And no I've never seen a group of cups like that before.

You asked about a story to go with it. I could tell you the tale that involved mushrooms and machetied hedges, shooting stars and a rainbow, Ray Mears and a dead dogfish, tiny wee fires and ice covered cars, stones and deer, circles and hares, shoplifting, two heeds a bong and a beach.
But it would take far too long and be far too incriminating.

I made up the shoplifting bit to add a touch of glamour.
