The Roman subjigation of a sacred space | Forum

I was just thinking about Julians thoughts about the Romans and The Ure-Swale Plataeu - the location of the forts in the area - Bainbridge, Catterick and Aldborough matches to a tee the areas that I think mark out the sacred landscape.

As if that's not enough, most of you do not know that there is an unknown Roman fort within a mile of Thornborugh itself.

Does this mean the spiritual landscape that was carved out in the Neolithic was just as important in the Iron Age and became the focal point for the Roman suppression of the area? Or is it more a natural geography sort of thing?

BrigantesNation, I wonder if you can help clear up my confusion! I've heard that there's no evidence to suggest that Thornbrough was still being used in iron age times, so had ceased to have any significance by the time the Romans got here. Therefore they couldn't be oppressing the people of the henges 'cause no-one was using them... Am I wrong? I look forward to your reply!
