Looking back to last winter on that website, and on some of the websites linked, there are even better photos of similar inversions.
I'm off, with my mate, on the high Lakeland fells tomorrow, looking for a decent cloud inversion, which is something worth seeking amongst the mountains, I can tell you. It's about being in the right place at the right time, when the view from the valley is grim and very unpromising, with an overcast, low ceiling of cloud, on a frosty day. You climb above the cloud into a sparkling world of blue skies, and, if you're lucky, white snows.
