Firstly before i say what i want i will state catergorically that regrdless of reason/intentions i do not agree with Mike Croley marking the stones.

However on a recent trip to Dorset i had the pleasure of meeting this colourfull fellow at the Nine Stones and spent nearly three hours chatting to him. Yes he's a little way out there but he does love that circle as its his local one, im sure he thought drawing chalk carvings was harmless and thats why he did it. I'm sure if he was asked he would no longer do this or indeed if he read this forum he would no longer do it.
The one thing i will say for Mike although misguided he does love that circle and you can regulary find him there beleive it or not he see's himself as a guardian of that place and a protector!

If feelings are running so high why not just ask him to stop first i also have his phone no. and would be quite happy to give him a ring and point out how this has un-nerved some of us.
