The place fascinates me. I had my last pint with the folks in a pub that looks straight across that valley. It PRESIDES in a most mammary and belly-ish fashion. I could be accused for putting ideas into peoples heads, but in fact, the first time I discovered (by accident walking in 2002) it, I called a snapshot 'the old woman' because it looked like a reclining woman. The above pics have a better angle, the black and white one I think is best, it was a summer evening, and the colours look 'odd' on the colour one. The link on that page is to a theory/detail of alignment of four stones and the whible. The whole area I believe warrants great reearch and experiencing by anyone with an interest in the Bronze Age hill cults, if so there be.

I meant Whimble.
