[quote="tiompan"] decided to see if the Stonehenge cursus might also be aligned on a similar event to WKLB .The cursus is aligned 2 degrees further north but due to being further south and a slightly different horizon it would ahae had the same visual display as WKLB on the same evening .

Hi,

Can anyone enlighten me on what this event and it's visual display is? I'm guessing it's some kind of solar or lunar phenomenon.

Apologies for my ignorance

My fault Gwass ,it's a wee bit complicated but not too bad . Close to equinoxes the sun and moon get closer together in rise and set points m.Just before and just after the solar equinox there are full moons ,when these moons are directly opposite the sun set they appear red and there is a 30% chance they may eclipse that night . The effect has the moon appearing like the sun and even does the job of almost having the time period betwee nsolstices .Some possible orienations of monumnets that look like they were bad attempts at aligning on the solar equinox may be aligned instead on this lunar phenomenon .It so happens that close to the build date for WKLB it's orienation pointed to such an event .The Stonehenge cursus might also fit into this category but not on the same date as the WKLB one .Hope that helps .
