Fankle, Hurkle Durkle etc . sound Germanic .

Sadly , the Scots tend to ignore the Germanic input into the lingo , whereas Gaelic is lauded and even used on street names in areas with little Gaelic association .

A couple of years ago the Macneil Y-DNA project produced some interesting results , usually punters love to think they might have "viking" ancestry , but not quite in this case .

Another thing worth noting, the page I read said about hurkle-durkle : 'to lie in bed, or lounge, after it is time to get up or go to work, FIFE'

I wasn't aware they worked in fife George?
Do you still have armed guards on your side of the bridge?
