A quick calculation, given the dimensions of the rollers and the density of oak (680Kg/M3), gives a weight of roughly 1/2 ton each. 15 rollers alone would weigh 7 1/2 tons.
Where would the flax for the sails have come from? Flax prefers a deep and loamy soil to grow well, which is in very short supply on Salisbury Plain.

thanks for your time in doing these calculations.......oak would probably have been the wood of choice for the rollers and you are correct about the weight. it may have been slightly less because of the axle hole but when you consider the axle almost filled the hole, then your calculation would be correct. i supplied you with a roller size that was quite large, it may have been a good bit smaller but it is better to err on the side of caution for these calculations.

as for the flax, it could have come from anywhere just as the blue stones came from wales.

thanks again, clyde
