"and by building a full size operating mill".
At last, some reality is perhaps spoken. I rarely, if ever, stick my tuppenceworth in here or elsewhere, but the reality and engineering problems with scale cannot be dismissed and ignored. As I have said elsewhere, a working scale model is all very well, but means absolutely nothing on its own. Scaling up does not increase everything in proportion, eg weight increases by a cubed term, but the effect of the wind in the sails will decrease, as the relative speed will be less.

Its all an interesting idea, and notwithstanding any other doubts I have, eg why was there only one, in the world, ever, the engineering just does not work out.

I wish you well, its a good debate, but the only way to say this works is with a full scale version. With ropes and poles that would be equivalent to ancient ones, ie weak and not straight.

Good Luck.

Plus of course, even if you can make a fullsized version that works it still doesn't actually prove that the original Stonehenge was the same....

Good luck in getting some evidence, not only that Stonehenge could have been used in this way, but that it was. :^)
