Do you think the use as a granary was a failure - if not do you think other henges were constructed?

If there were why did their use not continue?

This is the best debate I've had for ages. Going home in a minute but looking forward to tomorrow already.

the granary at stonehenge was an absolute success as evidenced by the number of centuries it operated after it was built (stage 3 stonehenge).

i do not know why others were not built. but it is obvious that stonehenge 3 came at the very end of the megalithic era and not many stone circles of any kind were built thereafter. also iron became available and other kinds of simpler mills could be built.

so here is a little something i have been playing with.,...... perhaps woodhenge nearby was the test model (in wood) for the granary at stonehenge. they may have needed to construct a full size operating mill before they went to all the trouble to make it in stone.....

clyde, the naughty theorist

yes i class this theory along with the built by giants, spaceship landing site
stuff and although the evidence is slight for these some people believe in these wholeheartedly. in the same vain your theory can be made to work but it doesnt prove anything other than you have a very active imagination. can you tell me would all the rigging and stuff that prevented free movement within the circle be removed to facilitate the celebration of the seasonal festivals especially the solstice rituals. ?
