Re incompetent we might think about it being imaginative, it could be that the artist was never there (this must have been quite usual before bikes) and was working from another drawing, or might have seen the site and the drawing but was adding the 'castrum' in some imagined haze.who's wittering on about stones not being there in the prints....

Though might be a bit early for reinvented Gothic I suppose.
