Better still, automatic (tasteful) ticket dispensers at each "bus stop" so pedestrians could walk in for free and wander as they wish or hop on a bus for a short while if they felt like it....

I like the idea of making the charge just for parking, the 'visitor centre experience' and the buses while allowing access to the landscape be free.
