I'll be there for the duration.

Me too.

I plan to arrive about 9:00am Saturday. I have to leave not long after 5:00pm to collect Sandra from Derby station, then we have an evening meal booked at our B&B just north of Derby so we won't be around on Saturday evening. Sunday morning we expect a bright and early start, then we'll have a leisurely breakfast and saunter along to the museum... Only kidding; we'll be on site early. ;o)

When a stone is dropped, the speed of rotation, etc. depends solely on its longitudinal dimensions. Width and mass are irrelevant. I can prove that mathematically, but I won't bore you with the details here.

So, tomorrow I'm going to make a full-sized longitudinal cross-sectional model of the stone out of MDF of plywood to see how it behaves when dropped. It'll be 15' long and 2'3" high. I made one today from chipboard, but it broke before I could try it. :o(

I'm hoping that this model will allow me to get the height of the tower and the overhang of the stone exactly right so that we can drop the real one with absolute precision.
