Saturday - soon after 8.00am - tilting a ten ton block (= circa 2 bluestones), to fix logs under it, turning it through 180 degrees and rowing it up a hill for several hundred yards and then down again, using a team of ten or twelve people.
Other replications have involved hundreds of people and haven't attempted gradients, so it should be pretty special.
Hopefully.

Sunday - research for eventual erection experiment. Constructing a wooden tower, rowing the stone onto it and perhaps attempting to drop it vertically, (depending on time remaining).

Ta Nigel!

So looking forward to it & soooooo wish I could be there Saturday as well as Sunday!!!

Good luck for Saturday all - not that you'll need it!!! Won't need luck Sunday either - I'll be there!!! ;^)

The Stonehengineers dozen will in fact be trying to move the equivalent of two and a half bluestones uphill, whereas the last lot to try anything like it had an army of people, a flat tarmac road, three quarters of a bluestone and a £100k lottery grant.

So if all doesn't go perfectly, please be kind to them!
