Google Maps:
Switch to sattelite view and zoom in all the way

You can stick "stonehenge" into google maps and it will take you to the same thing (found this out much later of course).

CarHenge
------------
This took bloody ages to find.

Latitude: 42.143417
Longitude: -102.857483

Look at the bottom right hand corner of the map. Is this it? Google maps dont provide images of this area at the appropriate zoom level. If you put the zip code 69301 in you get a strangley beautiful image on the satellite view.

This is a better view of carhenge.

Since my original post whizzed off the main page with rather undue haste (you were obviously singularly unimpressed with the Stonehenge USA satellite view) I can see that I am going to have to raise my game a bit.

I was at work Frid and we were discussing google maps and I was bemoaning the lack of a UK coverage when someone pointed out to me that yes there was a UK map. I am sure I looked at this last week and there was nothing!!!! Maybe there was I don't know! Anyhoo....

HowTo
=====
1) Create an account on http://mygmaps.com/
2) Choose a site on the TMA and point browser at it.
3) Click on the "StreetMap" plugin. Then go to the " Click here to convert/measure coordinates" link.
4) Make a note of the Lat (WGS84) and Long (WGS84) values.
5) Click "Create new map" on gmap.
6) For each entry fill in lat and long.
6) For each location fill the html for the popup. Here is an example

<div style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/144/Achnabreck">Achnabreck</a><p>Cup and Ring Marks / Rock Art</p><p><img src="http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/img_small/15145.jpg"/></p></div>

You can copy the main link and thumbnail from the page.

7) Do this for each site and then generate the map.

There is a a long and technical description of this stuff on

http://stuff.rancidbacon.com/gmaps-standalone/

The streetmaps interface is a little more detailed but lacks the slickness of google maps. Holy McGrail..thoughts?

Enjoy!
