I think that the 'Giant's Dance' was also an alternative name. Not sure how old, but it's mentioned in Arthurian legend, so it dates at least from medieval times. T'was said that the Giant's Dance was transported to Salisbury Plain from Ireland... possibly a reference of the moving of the blue stones fom Wales???
