I tried to get up there for 88 I think. It was a complete nightmare! Came back to Gloucester with my tail firmly betwen my legs!

I heard a rumour that the reason the SPG went in so hard was 'coz they didn't want the festival occuring for 10 years on the trot, 'cause then it got some kind of legal status. ALthough a guy I know who was there says the Angels got very heavy the year before, marching around with weapons being generally obnoxious...

Always wanted to go to that festival...

If the festival had been on the same site for 11 years in a row then it would have become public land.
EH didn't want this so asked the SPG to bust heads.
I haven't been back to summer solstice since the beanfield and don't intend to ever again.
Even Avebury is turning into a solstice farce these days.
It's become an excuse for a load of druggies to camp out for as long as possible while blokes in frocks shout at the sky,
