Calling Gordon

Gordon, I'd be interested to know what your carpenter's eye makes of the Stonehenge lintels. Not much more is said about them than that they're reminiscent of wood jointing so Stonehenge is a big stone version of previous wooden versions. But what do you think, would you make it out of wood that way? Might be another case of a practical approach having something to teach the archaeologists...

Reminiscent is the right word, reminiscent of a mortice and tenon, as I see it the weight of the stones is more important than the actual joint. The joints seem to be no more than locating pins.

However I am just a carpenter and would never think of telling an historian about Stonehenege:-)
