<<Not to be too much of a hippy (again - not such a bad thing..!) but I do like to touch, to get a feel of the place.>>
i agree, and you cannot get a full sense of somewhere from outside looking in, which is why i felt so angry /sad that day. i am sure i would get a differnt 'vibe' if i touched, walked round etc. as i do with all the sites i visit, i like to go in, round, outside of them, look at them from all angles, like some megalithicanorak! but its just that stonehenge is so f*** busy with people not seeking it out but going coz its a ourist attraction,,,most of the sites i have visited in cornwall need some form of knowledge, even if its just a map, you have to look for most of these sights, which is what makes them so great, the whole pilgrimidge to them the arguments that Julian has problems with knowing his left from his right in TMA (or is that just me and mr pixie?), the joy at first seeing it, even if its small,,,,thats the 'vibe' from seeing stone circles the whole getting there, being there, but with stonehenge its just so touristy, you get taken there, told wher to park, sihnposted to it, told which way to walk round it as cursus walker says. and its that that i find hard to grapple with, but have to accept as there are so many bloody people that go there!
anyway maybe an evening visit would change me,
rock on!
