well i dont know about anyone else but thats one of the reason i love the ancient sites so much - 5000 years ago a person just like me, with the same emotions and feelings that i have, put the last stone/post/whatever in place and stepped back, maybe stood right where i'm standing at that particular moment, and surveyed their work. i can stand there and feel connexted to that person and the past and the present and the future all at once. it gives me a sense of place and 'being' in it all.
but thats just me.
