I loved the bit about finding the neolithic tool at his feet on the beach at the Knap of Howar, there really is something so special about handling the artefacts that no amount of looking at exhibits or photos can convey.

<pedant mode> The photo at the beginning of the article is of the Ring of Brodgar, not Stenness as captioned, and as for Hoy not having any burial chambers, well, not in the same construction method as the ones on Mainland, but the Dwarfie Stane is certainly worth a mention IMO.</pedant mode>
