I get frightened when I go to Scotland
(and that's my only excuse). There's a lovely deposit of Old Red Sandstone not far from Brampton. Long Meg eg. I wonder how other, similar, stones travelled. It certainly went west a few miles. I did go to the Manchester Museum, the other week, but the curator was uncontactable so I didn't see the stone ball he has. There's a hill a dozen miles north of the vault that has an ancient egg-rolling ceremony at Easter. The stone would have been ideal for that.
