Do you want to answer my question as to whether that cupmarked stone from the beach at Lindisfarne has been officially recorded. Because, until it has, everyone on this board that knows about it is part of a conspiracy to nick it. If it were just you - hence the id - it wouldn't be so bad (perhaps) but by doing nought there is the impression that stealing prehistoric objects is fine and that just turns conservation upside down.

I don't know anything about that ball SL but it should be kept in perspective. Right now at 8.20 am the Heritage Action erosion counter is showing the running total of the number of archaeological artefacts removed by metal detectorists since 1975 (the great majority without being reported) as 10,122,586. When you check the link it'll be more.

Ball, schmall. It matters little in the wider picture.

FFS ... It's been recorded by Aaron & Stan and is on the online archive (this was done within a week of me finding it)

It's also "lined up" to get recorded again by the refreshed Northumberland project just as soon as I remember to take it to any of the projectees.

yeah cos it's a deep secret and is worth loads of money - NOT

some are not even convinced of it's authenticity anyway (heaven forfend!)
