I was listening to the Radio last night and they were interviewing two actors who had been filming on the Isle of Man. They were telling how every morning they had to cross a bridge near a stone circle and had to thank the fairies for doing so. If they didn't they'd receive bad luck. Does anyone have any ideas where this might have been?

By the way I'll be poking around Avebury and the locality on Sunday if anyone's around?

I remember crossing this bridge many years ago , it's a dull wee thing on the main road is about the best I can manage, far more memorable was how awful Douglas was .

There aren't any true stone circles on Mann. Meayll Hill is often misinterpreted as a stone circle, but there aren't any bridges nearby. The Braaid is another non-stone circle that springs to mind. No bridges here either though.

A possible contender might be Cronk Karran, which is a circular setting of stones. There's no bridge as such nearby, but you have to navigate an Indiana-Jones-esque set of chasms to get to it. These might be described as land bridges.

I went on a Biology field trip to the IOM many years ago and we stayed at a school in Castletwon. We arrived at Douglas and went west to Castletown by road and I remember going across this bridge and being told we all had to thank the Faeries which we all did. So, if my memory survives intact some 20+ years, I would say it is on the road betwen these two towns.

It's a small stone bridge by the way.
