What I'm really looking for is signs of continuity/discontinuity of custom - so BA and IA development of henges rather than Roman.

More specifically to this thread, it's instances where henges have been turned into fortified settlements.

It may be more fruitful to look at Neolithic & BA enclosures that were later utilised in the IA rather than just concentrate on henges, after all the vast majority of henges have an altogether different function in the landscape, we could debate what that function is 'til Gabriel blows his horn.
I can't think of a single henge that would make a decent hillfort or fort.
