I looked at that link last night, liked what I saw and read a lot. Meeting the 'googletrekker' out on a long distance walk may be a little disconcerting though. An excellent project about the National Trails in England and Wales (mostly England) can only be a good thing given how densely populated the cities and some of the towns now are in England. Good to know you can get out there and walk one of the trails or at least part walk one of them. They are all linear so not do-able for a lot of people and at least those who can't walk them, can view them and visualise being there.
I caught the tail end of 'Desert Island Discs' a couple of weeks back. The actor Hugh Bonneville was saying he lived in a corner of 'God's Own Country'. My ears pricked up expecting somewhere exotic - it was in fact the South Downs. He chose a lovely piece of music called 'The Path to the Future' by his friend and composer Damian Montagu. I can't find the piece or the album 'In a South Downs Way' anywhere (on Amazon) to buy but did locate this track - 'England Green'

Like the music of Vaughn Williams it evokes a memory of our 'green and pleasant' land which has in recent times been caught up in the fear of Zenophobia which seems to pervade our lives today. But England is my land and I love its streams, rivers and rolling downs.
