let's not reopen the debate as to whether there were "Celtic" kingdoms in Britain and Ireland, but what Alastair Moffat writes in the Sea Kingdoms is well worth reading, and is a fascinating look at the "Dark Age" (for want of a better description) kingdoms of these islands
