Arbor Low is a gem. Don't forget to look for the remains of the avenue.
Altho' Julian didn't like the collie dog, you've got to bear in mind that it's a working dog which lives in the farmyard (not in the house) and so it's just pleased to have someone to hang with. It ran ahead of us all the way up to the henge, and then followed me over to Gib Hill barrow and back again to the car.
The farmer will sell you an English Heritage guide for £2.50 if you knock at the farmhouse door.

last time i was there, there was a sign saying not to go near the dog..folks had been winding it up and it had lost it a few times...it did say it would be a temporary problem....dont sound good for the dog

Yes, Arbor Low is the major site in Derbys.

Pity that all the stones have been knocked down.

I`d like to see them re-erected.

The linear feature (`avenue`) running from the southern part of the henge is not thought to be prehistoric, but a later field boundary.
