I've a couple of days there in a fortnights time.
Can you recommend which are the best circles to see?

We'd go for Nine Ladies and Doll Tor on Stanton Moor, Arbor Low, Bamford Moor South, Hordron Edge (if you're feeling brave!), Barbrook I and II and Five Wells chambered tomb.

Have a good trip - let us all know where you get to.

ok so it's not a circle, but seen as i've become obsessed with the place.. MinningLow, the chambers up there are tops...and no-one goes there.
Hordron Edge as well, if the farmer is about, head down and leg it to the stones....he wont run uphill!!
and it's the best in the Peak.
nice one

Nine Ladies have a serene, gentle magic, Nice Stones Close and Robins Hood's Stride are pretty dramatic, but the best is surely Lilliputian faeryland of the enchantingly sweet DollTor. They are all bloody close to each other so you can crack on with a quite a few in a day.
Haven't been to Arbor Low yet, so tell me what its like!?
Happy hunting, feline

I recommend that you get a copy of Rock Around The Peak. Only £7.95. (Victoria and Paul Morgan. Sigma Leisure.)

All of the Derbys. sites are in there, and how to find them.

For instance, on Stanton Moor there are three other unnamed circles, apart from Nine Ladies and the nearby Doll Tor, hidden in the vegetation.

Arbor Low is a gem. Don't forget to look for the remains of the avenue.
Altho' Julian didn't like the collie dog, you've got to bear in mind that it's a working dog which lives in the farmyard (not in the house) and so it's just pleased to have someone to hang with. It ran ahead of us all the way up to the henge, and then followed me over to Gib Hill barrow and back again to the car.
The farmer will sell you an English Heritage guide for £2.50 if you knock at the farmhouse door.
