Today I walked up the lane that was featured in that programme - luckily we didn't meet any off-roaders, but it keeps you on edge knowing they could come along at any minute! There are a couple of tracks near my village that they use - some they're not supposed to - they steal the signs saying "restricted byway" and do what they like.
I always wonder whether I'd be brave enough to stand up to them if I did meet any!

I recall sitting upon Stanage a few years back and seeing a number of these muppets lumber along below .... so slowly that walkers were actually overtaking them. What kind of mind must you have you think this is a worthwhile activity? One of the 'intrepid' fools appeared to break down, - why it stuck in the mind, I guess - which I would assume wasn't in keeping with the macho image he was looking to convey. Ridiculous. Since the law or indignation appear to have no affect, how about pointing and laughing?

Was up in the Comeraghs a few years ago when half a dozen quadbikes went ploughing across Coumaraglin, a protected national monument. At 2,000 feet I got a great view, phoned the farmers (shotgun owners all) whose sheep were being scattered, and watched as 5 minutes later several vehicles cut off every access road to the valley. There has'nt been a quadbike seen since...
