You've cracked it Alken...it's a rotary clothes line for the use of travellers along the Ridgeway Path :-) This sparked consternation from the landowner and when it was investigated by a surveyor on the ground, it turned out that the "boundary" was actually a washing line hung with sheets on the day the plane flew over.
