Not really – think energy reserves. We all knew that natural gas was going to run out – now that it has where was the forward planning back then? We’re in deep shmuck now and we didn’t have to be if the nettle had been grasped when the first gas reserves were being pumped.

Whats your point?

When I bought my house (A similar analogy) the surveyors report showed that the roof was aging and would need replacing in a shot time span.

I was then very aware that when I bought the property, there would be an eventual cost to replace the roof.

I see no difference between that and this.
