Probably a plastic path to Swallowhead springs......

I fear you may be right Andy - that would be dreadful and would destroy the sort of 'spiritual' journey to places that scubi63 so eloquently describes when he says -
"One year (about 1990) it had snowed quite heavily and the whole path had been covered by a drift. The 'other half' at that time and I decided we would venture to WK and waded to the top through the deep snow. It took ages to get there with me making the first steps in the virgin snow and the G.F. following in them behind, but we were rewarded with a rare view of the landscape."
Some improvement on access to the Swallowhead is called for but not a plastic path (and certainly nothing at the Swallowhead when you get there). What is urgently needed is a small car-park adjacent to where the WKLB lay-by now is. I know a lot of people won't like that idea but not everyone can walk all the way from the Silbury car-park when the WKLB lay-by is full. The present WKLB lay-by is completely inadequate, dangerous, and cars left there are often vandalised. A car-park similar in size to the one at Silbury, and planted with a few trees, with perhaps a couple of benches as well, would be ideal.
