The Barge Inn at Honey Street (Alton Barnes, Wiltshire) is hosting a solstice celebration on Saturday, 19 June. Live music is planned for the evening and camping facilities are available at the back of the pub. The Barge Inn is situated right by the canal and in view of the Pewsey White Horse. Avebury is about 15 minuets' drive away.

Whoppee! full of croppies and people who think they can talk to aliens!
I deffo won't be there!

Moth ane me will be hosting our own solstice celebrations at the Ring of Brodgar, Orkney. I believe Hob will be joining us. If anyone else wants to joins us, it'd be great to see you. Bring champagne and a blanket :-)

The main Avebury car park will again be closed after 18:00 this year - you'll be allowed to leave but not enter the car park after that time. In other words, if you want to park in Avebury for the solstice celebrations get there early and hang on to your parking space. Having said that, watch this space for changes as the National Trust are in the habit of moving the goal-posts at the last minuet.

Don't think I can make it down to Wiltshire (or anywhere very far this year) so is there anything happening in the east of England over the weekend?

Dinner and drinks at the Fox and Raven, Chelmsford, tomorrow (Monday) followed by a short stroll along the river and part of the Chelmer Cursus. Weather permitting, a quiet greeting of the sunrise at Blake's Wood on Tuesday (please leave your drums and fire-eating apparatus at home ;-).
