For my part it looks like blatant pattern-seeing where there are none. I've been in WK several times, in fact I've sat & stared at that back wall for quite a while one solstice & I've never noticed any faces. Seen other things, but no faces :)

The article sited by Nigel stated that the stones had been "carved" into these shapes. If there is evidence of tool marks, this might suggest that the shapes are indeed intentional. Otherwise, it's just wishful thinking. Visit any natural limestone cave and you will be shown stalagmites of an "elephant" or a "madonna and child" by the guide.
