Rumours of my death aside, I am now firmly ensconced nr manchester following the Big Move away from London. I've only been out a couple of times to the peaks since the move so I'm in a quandry as to the best sites for the winter solstice.

Any recommendations? Is there an Avebury or Stonehenge style gathering anywhere or will I be spending sunrise at Five Wells or somewhere similar?

You're not that far from Casterigg really ...

I may venture that way on 21st. I was there last year and the weather was drizzly. I was there for the summer one too and also was also wet! Who knows it could be a gloriously crisp sunny dawn... (bet it isn't!)
