Logan Stones

close

I think I'd like to get to a good Logan Stone when I'm in the area next week.

Which ones are worth the effort?

Thanks

P.S. Looks like most of us are down there over the next few weeks. It'll be a real challenge to come up with any non-duplicating pictures!

Strangely, not something I've ever hunted out whilst down there.

Maybe we should publish dates in case a meet-up is possible?

I'll be there August Bank Holiday weekend, then again for a whole week from Sep 25th. Anyone else match/overlap those dates?

I guess the prime example would be the logan stone at 'Porthcurno' , to the left of the beach, found myself on top of it a couple of years back now, fascinating landscape, plus you find yourself overlooking what is probably the best beach in the SW in my opinion!!.Also i read on the internet somewhere that theres a rocking stone on 'Carn Galva' on the Zennor side of Penwith!, failed to locate that one though, and reports of barrows on the Carn which have been excavated.

Would you kindly tell me what a logan stone is? I gathered an idea from reading the posts, but did not find any information at a couple of other sites.

Remember that round capstone ? Someone's seen it somewhere but there are no pictures of it yet. Somewhere near the Beehive - Borlase has an etching of it, I believe. It's not a Logan Stone though.
