It's only a personal feeling, but I kind of think the small separate circle IS separate for a reason. That you ought to have to feel you're moving to a different area to reach it. It's got different views from the others and it's raised up too. I don't think it would be very friendly to insist the farmer got rid of his useful track between the circles (if that's what you mean by 'compulsory purchase order', unless you're joking)! It's very relaxed there and you never feel like you're being a nuisance to the farmer as you stroll past the stones and the sheep?

It would be nice to have a path from the cove straight to the stones, because walking down the road completely messes with your sense of where it is compared to the main circles.

The pub would never do that! Customers might leak out of the garden.

you're right - the little circle has a different feel and outlook - it's on a little hill no? - and obviously the scale is different. i haven't got anything against the farmer and it isn't too much effortto walk through the mud but i get the feeling that the whole area was a complex - maybe from seperate periods and its importance seems a bit neglected (which does has the advantage of few visitors!)

ideally the connection with the river would be restored too - that also seem like it would have been important

the avenues from the bigger circles seem to be converging on something do you think? - but nothing is revealed - it's mysterious
