Couple of years for me too, whilst there were signs to middle & south saying no access there was nothing to actually prevent you accessing them

Of course the choice is yours whether to ignore the signs or not :)

They are scheduled monuments, owned by Tarmac plc. If you went in there with a JCB you'd be hard pressed to cause as much damage to the henges as they have to the surroundings. ;)
