But it does tend to get reinforced by the famous EH quote, the most important prehistoric site between Stonehenge and blah blah.

I think it's been useful in raising the profile of an unknown site but Peter's right, it's probably counter-productive now.

There's a lot to be said for branding it, by constant repetition. Thornborough Complex could maybe be expanded to the Thornborough Monument Complex?

And it got the press's attention in press releases etc... (Actually, I thought it had more-or-less fallen out of use - at least from 'our' end.)
