Just a quickie - are the NYCC archaeologists aware of the new finds? If yes, when were they told?

This'll help when I contact NYCC.

Cheers

That's an interesting question. NYCC have been engaged on a number of occasions and have dismissed out of hand the potential importance of any archaeology on the site. The continued destruction of archaeology of potential national importance on the site was identified to them aas early ago as Summer 2002. Their approach has been to deny that anything of importance exists and to reassure that all archaeology is being fully recorded and is therefore preserved by record.

However, when it comes to asking if they have been officially contacted by Tarmac's archaeologist that is another story, one which varies from no, to yes, depending on who you speak to and unfortunately EH appear to be in no clearer a position.

Basically, if the chain is broken in several places the archaeology can nicely be destroyed whilst all parties blaim each other. Does that sound familiar?
