I'm not sure that these chaps are that sort of conservation society.

A year ago, one of the friends of thornborough asked for a meeting to talk about the archaeology of the area. THey refused to acknowelde that these was anything else other than the henges, and got v angry when he suggested that a significant part of their agenda chould be to conserve the environment surrounding the henges that's been there for 5,000 years.

Next day one of the councillors rang up and informed Friends that LUCT did not want any further communications.

LUCT do not have a single conservation body affiliated to them. But they do get a lot of their funding from Tarmac, LaFarge, Yorwaste, etc. etc. At one point does keeping the enemies close cross over to sleeping with them/being them all along.

I've just seen a Bronze Age currick and a huge chambered cairn bulldozed - from a mile away. They were both there on Friday morning - Sunday afternoon nothing. That White Sultan man, I guess, building a shooters' road. No Planning Permission or anything like that. I even think it was done to spite me. The County Archeaologist and English Nature (they were in a SSSI) are dormant.

The tools I had left over winter, in a very deserted bothy, were smashed, lost and wrecked. I've never seen a mountain bike so damaged (and I live in the part of Newcastle where invalid trolleys are burnt out).

So I don't think you can stop the river. Sorry
