I'm surprised you're not an Orkney or Shetland resident. You've been all over!

I should 'fess up and say that my points of view probably don't accurately reflect the majority of TMAers. I'm only guessing, but I tend to verge on the pedantic when it comes to these things. There have been many debates about what should and shouldn't qualify to go on the site, and there remain a number of grey areas. I don't much like grey areas myself, but I'm gradually coming to terms with them (I get semi-regular counselling from Holy and FW).

The general rule (bearing in mind there are no rules) is that postings reflect sites that date back to the prehistoric (Iron Age and preceding periods). A lot of people think of the Iron Age as too late for the TMA ethos, but personally I tend to consider the Romans as the real dividing line (they're the ones that begat uptight people like myself). In addition to this there are natural sites that can be identified as significant to prehistoric people as sacred places. This one is tricky to prove/disprove, but for the most part it's obvious (e.g. hill with 20 'man made' sites scattered around it). Then there are Christianised sites, and this is where I begin foaming at the mouth and gnashing my teeth...

So to summarise, I don't really know what the concensus is. Perhaps someone else can share their thoughts with the group.
