Cheers Mr E,
I was going to stay at Wasdale but opted instead for Boot. Me and the terrier spent a day mooching about Burnmoor and was blown away by the place. We had a good couple of days over there, we were ran-off Lacra by irate momma cows, got drunk with some nice folk at the Boot Inn plus we had to turn the van around halfway up the Hardknott Pass, which was quite embarrassing. Mind you it wasn't half as embarrassing as the bloke in Eskdale who thought he could pass me at speed on a narrow road, he slipped into the gulley and ended up in a shower of sparks, gouging-up his floor pan and relieving him of a large portion of his bumper.

cheers

Fitz,
It's always a bit of a challenge that Harknott Pass, especially from the Eskdale end. It's the steepest road in Britain, with a 1-in-3 on the hairpins neart the top. It's a case of keeping the revs up. I always manage it in my Fiat Puno 1242cc, although in your vehicle it's a bit more of a sh1t.
Burnmoor is superb, as you found out. Lonely, open, desolate, yet with inspiring views.
I'm glad the impatient tw@t who tried to overtake you came to grief, and hope his axle and sump is bvggered.
Keep up the Eskdale/Burnmoor enthusiasm - spread the word.
Cheers,
TE.
