Dear Mr McGrail
I have been grubbing around West Oxfordshire today and it occurs to me that the entries for the Hoar stone and Lyneham Longbarrow should be separated out, as they are two different sites, about 6 miles apart.

Lyneham long barrow should be part of Oxfordshire>Wychwood and the Hoar stone can stand independently within the Oxfordshire section (as it indeed does.in reality.)

Can you fix it for me, Holy?

I agree, these two sites should have separate listings.

The Lyneham Longbarrow is at SP297211.

The Hoar Stone depicted, at SP378237, should be called `The Hoar Stone at Enstone`. There are other Hoar Stones.

For instance, at Steeple Barton, 5 miles to the east, there are two Hoar Stones, which can be very confusing. James Dyer, in his book Discovering Prehistoric England, gives the location of one, but his description is of the other!

I have an opposite situation. The Mare and Foal outlier is correctly placed on 'the map' - and the MultiMap view, beneath, shows The Mare and Foal, itself, correctly. http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/browse.php?site_id=3087

Yet the Mare and Foal small stone circle has gone wandering, on the map, and ended up in Alston - just a little to the south of the Gossipgate bridge. http://www.themodernantiquarian.com/browse.php?site_id=2010

I think this maybe the furthest outlier in the history of megaliths - it must be twelve, maybe fifteen, miles. Is this a record ?
