Welcome aboard madelaine,

I think you did really well to find that the site was already on TMA (and under a different name). I certainly remember duplicating the odd site when I was doing my first posts and thinking 'doh' afterwards.

What do you think about the condition and management of the hill fort? I notice that it's owned by the National Trust. I'm a Council member of the Trust and particualrly interested in ancient sites and how we are managing them. There are loads of 'unsung' sites like this that people don't realise the Trust are trying to protect.

As the comments on the site on TMA already said, it has been flattened somewhat. It is almost without interpretation (but I think that can be over-rated with these sites since we know so little about them). I'm no authority on the management. I assume that all those trees must have messed up the possibilities for archaeology somewhat (but then archaeology is so destructive!!!!). It seems well managed to me. Held with a light hand - not too many "do not" signs and it is locally popular and well visited. (and is part of the core business of NT, unlike John Lennon's old home!!!!!)
