As perpetrator of this particular site I felt like I ought to justify the name (er if I can). I can see what you mean. But I think it's *generally been known as N.T., I don't think I've seen it refered to as Butcombe. Maybe because Butcombe is down in the combe, whereas the barrow is really higher up and Nempnett is higher up too. It is on the parish boundary between the two (Or rather, the parish boundary is on it) but in its smr it is counted as NT. Whatever, the whole area seemed a confusing mesh of roads when I drove through and I didn't get a look at the barrow unfortunately. If you want to add 'Butcombe' as an alternative name, do so, naturally, I can totally see your point.

I believe Butcombe is another barrow in the parish.
I have been in touch with a local who has written a book about the village.
I am going to visit him for a small tour sometime soon, do you want to come along?
Apparently there are several other barrows and the church is situated on a possible ancient henge type site.

Mr Hamhead originally posted:

"After looking on the map for this site I think it should be marked as being at Butcoombe rather than Nempnett Thrubwell. It is Butcombe church that it is east from...not Nempnett."

This should really have been a forum posting for discussion or a mail to the Eds.
